Swedish

The primary goal of Swedish massage is to relax the entire body.

It is the ultimate in relaxation, using oils with long gliding strokes in the direction ion blood returning toward the heart. Circular pressure, kneading, percussion (tapping) are other techniques used. It is beneficial for increasing the level of oxygen in the blood, decreasing muscle toxins, and improving circulation and flexibility while easing tension.

Deep Tissue

There are 7 layers of muscle in the back and one must be thoroughly warmed up to access those layers using deep strokes, friction with hands, fingers, thumbs, and elbows to access the deepest layer of muscles, fascia (the connective tissue surrounding the joints) and tendons. Be clear that deep tissue is not about using a jackhammer to access muscles but rather waiting for the muscles to release to move to the next layer. 90 minutes are required.

Shiatsu

Ancient Japanese bodywork system that uses hand, knuckle, palm, elbow, and foot pressure on specific points located along energy pathways called meridians, in order to promote the free flow of ki energy, the circulating life force.

Sports Massage

Specialized and often eclectic form of Swedish massage that focuses on enhancing athletic performance and facilitating post-event recovery.

Myofascial Release/Trigger Point

Gentle sustained pressure into the myofascial connective tissue restrictions to eliminate pain and restore motion.

Craniosacral

Craniosacral is a gentle, hands-on method of evaluating and enhancing the functioning of a physiological body system called the craniosacral system - comprised of the membranes and cerebrospinal fluid that surround and protect the brain and spinal cord. Using a soft touch generally no greater than 5 grams, or about the weight of a nickel, practitioners release restrictions in the craniosacral system to improve the functioning of the central nervous system. By complementing the body's natural healing processes, CST is increasingly used as a preventive health measure for its ability to bolster resistance to disease and is effective for a wide range of medical problems associated with pain and dysfunction.

Thai

Thai massage is often referred to as Lazy man’s yoga. Thai massage dates back to 5,000 years.

It is done in loose clothes on the floor while your therapist stretches, using gentle traction, and rocking techniques along with compression to bring blood flow and correct blockages and imbalances in the body.

This is a meditative movement listening to the signals in your body which can create a trance-like experience while going over the sen lines (energy lines), releasing myofascia, headaches, pain, stiffness, while increasing flexibility, calming the nervous system, and stimulating circulation and lymphatic drainage. The therapist uses their hands, feet, knees, and legs.

Pre/Postnatal

Increases blood and lymph circulation, thereby relieving swelling in the legs as well as hands. It alleviates strain on weight-bearing joints and myofascial structures to provide relief from muscle spasms and cramps.
